Extensions Aftercare & Styling Tips

When a client comes to us to get Hair Extensions, they always leave feeling like Cinders herself.    Their hair looks fantastic and they have a new spring in their step, upping their swagger and walking the walk, just how it should be!
Well we want you to keep this feeling and enjoy your extensions for as long as possible, so to help we've outlined some easy care steps to keep your extensions looking luscious and fresh for as long as possible until the inevitable removal. Hope it helps x

Washing  Do not wash your hair everyday! this strips the oils from the hair making them lose shine and break down encouraging matting. When you do make sure you use a good shampoo rich in proteins such as Purepact Patchouli softening shampoo which retails at the salon for £18 - Try to  concentrate on your own hair more than the extensions (unless you have something very grubby in them :-) Wash from the root more or less allowing the rinse to wash through the extensions. Rinse thoroughly as too much residue will irritate the scalp. If you have very oily hair, it is an idea to try and replace a wash or two with a dry shampoo sprayed on to the roots, such as such as Boots Expert Dry Shampoo rrp £2.99

Again with conditioner you need to make sure you are using the right one, for example a nourishing conditioner is of no value to the hair extensions as they are dead cells.  You must use a good quality conditioner such as Hypact Smoothing Conditioner in order to sleek down the hair shaft and detangle.  Capelli retail this at £14.50. Scrunch the conditioner onto your roots then through the braids. Finger comb your braids gently separating and sliding out any large matted areas, then take a wide tooth comb and starting from the bottom work your way up gently combing out and further knots. Please be aware that losing hair at this stage is completely normal and should not concern you. Rinse hair thoroughly.
Drying Drying your human hair extensions is relatively simple because you just have to keep in mind that the more you tug on them, the more damaged you will do. For best results allow your weft hair extensions to air dry, however if you are using a a hair dryer, don't use the highest heat setting. You want to do everything you can to ensure that your hair extensions maintain their shine and thickness for as long as possible.
Sleeping It is very easy for hair extensions to become tangled and the more tangled your extensions get, the worse they will look. In order to maintain the smooth look of your extensions, sleeping with your hair in a loose braid is a good idea. If you don't want to braid your hair, then pull it into a loose ponytail to keep it from getting tangled while you sleep. The main thing you want to avoid is putting unnecessary stress on your extensions.
Maintenance As with all hair, ever so often your extensions will need looking after by a proffessional. We advise visiting your salon for a maintenance service at least once during the lifetime of the braids. This requires an appt of approx 1-2 hrs.
straight and sleek
Styling  The great thing about human hair extensions is their versatility, however, it is a good idea to apply a lightweight heat protector before styling such as Moroccanoil available at the salon for £30.  Once applied you can style them just how you would your own hair, flat irons as well!! you can straighten it for that sleek look, or curl it up for that party night out, or maybe its a romantic look your after, then soft waves are the order of the day, and wow! now you can rock that Hottt Manga look with a loose pony and a sleek fringe!! these are just a few ideas, it really is just up to you!
